BA (Liberal Arts)

The BA (Liberal Arts) program at Sri Balaji University, Pune, offers a multidisciplinary education that encourages students to explore a wide range of subjects not only in the domain of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, but beyond the traditional knowledge streams. This flexible program allows students to tailor their studies by choosing Majors and Minors from diverse fields such as Economics, Political Science, Psychology, Media and Journalism, and more.

 

The program offers a rich array of elective courses, including Performing Arts and Foreign Languages. Major emphasis is given on Experiential Learning, where theory meets practice. Students engage in hands on training, participate in mandatory internships, and apply their knowledge to real-world scenarios.

 

Whether it is analysing personality, providing intervention through therapies and counselling, studying policy implications, conducting field research, or simulating diplomatic negotiations, learning essential technology and digital skills, BA (Liberal Arts) program focuses on career readiness & prepares graduates to navigate through complexities of the dynamic global landscape. With a focus on critical thinking, creativity, and cultural awareness, the program prepares graduates for various career paths and equips them with the skills needed to thrive in a dynamic global environment.

  • Should have passed 12th Std. Examination (H.S.C.10+2) with minimum 50% of marks and English as a passing subject
  • Three Years Diploma Course from Board of Technical Education, conducted by Government of Maharashtra or its equivalent, after S.S.C. i.e. 10th Standard
  • A candidate should have scored minimum 50 % marks in qualifying examination. (Minimum 45% for SC/ST candidates)

Refund Policy

* Caution money or security deposit, which are not part of the fees chargeable, shall be refunded in full.

** In case of (1) in the table above, the entire fee (after the deduction of the processing fee of not more than Rs. 1,000) shall be refunded to the student by the University concerned institution.

All programs run under the aegis of the Sri Balaji University are specially approved for education loans from: Propelld , Tata Capital , Punjab National Bank , Axis Bank , Bank Of Baroda , IDFC First Bank , Credenc , AVANSE , Bank of Maharashtra Sri Balaji University, Pune has signed MoUs with these banks. An education loan can be availed from any of the mentioned banks/NBFCs. However, students have the liberty to approach any other bank as per their convenience.

Basic Eligibility Criteria for all Scholarship

  • The candidate must apply through Sri Balaji University, Pune’s online admission process.
  • The candidate must clear SBUP’s selection process (GD, PI and Essay).
  • Eligible students may apply for one or more scholarships separately by clicking on the below links before the stipulated date and time.
  • If the candidate is eligible, he/she will be awarded only one scholarship for which he/she is eligible.
  • If student of second Year is applying for scholarship, then such student must have passed with minimum 60% marks in earlier year.
  • If student of second Year is applying for scholarship, then such student should not have any backlog in Internal as well as external subjects.
  • The students applying for scholarship should have minimum 75% LHR in the earlier semesters/year.
  • The students applying for scholarship should not have his / her name in the red list.
  • Any student who is found with in disciplined behavior in earlier year/semester shall be disqualified.
  • The existing scholarship recommended to each student is for the current Academic Year 2024-2025.
  • If any student who has been granted the scholarship cancels the admission or discontinues the program in subsequent year, the scholarship amount shall be recovered.

Note

  • The list of eligible students who are finally selected for the scholarship will be declared after the scrutiny of all the supporting documents (from the competent authorities) by the scrutiny committee and the completion of the selection process for the award of the scholarship.
  • If found at the later stage, the submitted documents are incorrect, then the scholarship facility will be withdrawn and the next eligible student will be considered.
  • If the number of deserving candidates are more, then the amount shall be equally distributed among all selected students. This clause is applicable to Prof. M. S. Pillai Memorial Scholarship and Bala Sir Memorial Scholarship.
  • All the documents/certificates which are submitted must be valid for the current academic year i.e. 2025-2026.
  • If the student/s has paid the initial fees and subsequently selected for the scholarship the surplus amount paid by them (If any) will be refunded to him/her.
  • The decision of the scholarship selection committee would be final.
  •  Traditional BA Programs and the recent BA (Hons) Programs are Unilinear in nature
  •  BA (Liberal Arts) at SBUP offers Dual Specialization with multiple exposure

  • BA (Liberal Arts) Program at SBUP is a Semester-based Four Years full-time undergraduate program with Choice Based Credit System
  • The program offers Foundation Courses in the first year, followed by Major and Minor specializations 2nd year onward
  • Students will also be offered choice-based subjects in the form of various electives- Languages, Co-Curricular, AEC, VES, SEC, Internship and Project, etc.
  • Major: Economics, English, Media and Journalism, Political Science, Psychology, etc.
  • Minor: Advertising & Branding Communication, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Economics, English, Management Studies, Media and Journalism, Political Science, Psychology
  • Electives: Applied Arts, Dance, Theatre, Music Therapy, Law, Foreign Languages, Graphology, Dance Movement Therapy, etc.

  • The Medium of Instruction will be English for BA (Liberal Arts) at SBUP
  • BA (Liberal Arts) at SBUP is inspired by NEP 2020 & adheres to UGC guidelines
  • The Programs and Courses are approved by the Board of Studies and Academic Council
  • The University is appearing for NAAC and soon to be accredited
  • As per NEP 2020, the BA (Liberal Arts) at SBUP has spanned over 4 years
  • Students successfully completing 3rd year will receive BA with major specialization
  • For 4th year, students can choose their track between- Internship & Research*
  • For 4th year, students can choose their track between- Internship & Research*
  • After successful completion of 4th year, students will receive BA (Liberal Arts) or BA (Liberal Arts) with Research respectively, based on their chosen track**

  • Marks obtained in HSC/qualifying exam: 50% & Personal Interview: 50%
